In Every Breath

                                                                                                  In Every Breath

It takes a village to raise a child,

A beautiful testament to every creature.

From our very first breath,

We are surrounded by life,

Bright lights engulf us,

Manipulating our eyesight,

Yet not erasing the beautiful sighs

Of admiration from family,

A tie that will hold a knot

Until the end of time.

We cry upon unfamiliarity,

Grimace upon isolation

Due to the adoration

We perceived as an expectation.

Have the birds ever chirped,

a singular tune?

Have the bees ever functioned,

without their Queen?

We relish togetherness

For the life within happiness.

In laughter,

In tears,

In fear,

We run to the same arms,

Time and time again.

Upon discovery of friendships,

The covenant of blood truly portrayed,

Thicker than the water of the womb.

Even in the test of time

We still triumph in our shared liberties.
