My Shades of Blue

                                                                                     My Shades of Blue

Aquamarine blue brings me indescribable peace,

like a dark cave covered in crystals,

light breaking through the rock—

shadows casting beauty.

When surrounded by these crystals,

I feel the color it illuminates

in a way that lights up the cave itself.

Sapphire glides across a ballroom,

in the form of heels.

Topaz, I picture one lover getting onto one knee

to propose with a ring,

glistening with this exact shade.

Kyanite blue in smooth rocks,

kept in a glass jar on the table—

quiet elegance in glass and stone.

Crystal blue reveals all truth,

no lies kept away—

Are we “crystal clear”?

My favorite shade is navy—

the ocean.

Rough sand covers me,

An angel in the sand—

chasing the waves,

yet I keep my distance—

it might swallow me whole.
