In the season of Autumn,

a lone green bush stands, in all its glory.

One shade of green for its rough hedges,

while surrounded by color.

It provides shelter—the smallest of bushes,

for the smallest of creatures.

It shares the same Earth

as the greener, star-like leaves beneath it.

The blazing Florida sun beams,

yet it does not touch this green bush.

A small palm tree stands just behind,

yet it casts no shadow over it.

The autumn wind blows

over the rusty sprinkler.

It brushes across the dark green bush—

its tiny leaves and brown branches flow

like currents in the ocean.

The brown branches ache

as a leaf departs to the wind.

Yet the ants still have their castle,

and the star-like leaves have company.
